The people in the villages never have had a chance to see a professional/qualified doctor. And are not able to travel to urban areas to seek medical attention. Due to inadequate nutrition and lack of sanitation villages suffer from Malaria and infectious diseases such as TB & Viral fever. The people in the villages normally depend on Mantras (prayers) as there is no other option available. Pregnant women and children are suffering the most. MTN want to conduct regular mobile medical clinics to the rural areas as doctors do not want to stay in rural areas.
Under this program, we adopt 25 villages. ( 25 villages = 5 units ) For each unit we provide Van with Driver, One doctor, A female nurse and One male assistant. In each village we help approximately 150 patients for each visit. This Mobile medical clinic will operate 5 days a week. That means, the medical staff visit one village per day. The head person of each village and other elders of the village will be informed the days of Doctor’s visit to their village. By doing this, each medical team will help approximately 750 Patients in each village in a month. So, each medical team will help 750 x 5 = 3750 patients per month.
The cost to sponsor this program ( One Unit )
A one time donation will buy the following items:
Diesel Bolero Jeep & Mobile medical equipment: USD$ 14,700.00 The recurring costs per month for 1 unit will cover the following::Costs of Medicine, (to service 3750 patients), Salaries for 1 doctor, 1 nurse, 1 assistant and driver, fuel costs & staff meals USD$ 2900.00
